There is something beautiful and amazing about diversity. Diversity is the idea of having differences in ideologies, perspective, culture, etc. You can do and achieve a lot by having differences. Yes, it is possible that people of different skills and ideas could unite for one single but common goal. Jack Ma himself believed in this concept. So, in this blog, we are going to talk about the power of unity in diversity.

Differences Matter

First of all, we need to understand that differences matter. Here is how it works: for example, you are part of a team of creatives. Your skills focus mainly on graphic design. But you need content as a basis on the layout that you are going to create. This is where the content writer of your team does their task of creating amazing content. Not everyone in a team should have the same set of skills, otherwise, you will go nowhere with what you are supposed to achieve. This applies with music; not everyone should play the bass note or the treble note otherwise there is no harmony. Harmony in the workplace is essential. It is how we create, build, and achieve our goals.
Also, part of this is having different ideas. There is a saying “conflict is good”. When you try to make sense of it, conflict is actually healthy for a team because that is where our creative differences are shown. Different ideas clash together and out of it comes one common idea which works for everyone. And when this is all set and done, we are now able to work in unity.

Working in Unity

Secondly, work in unity. In one of the previous blogs, we talked about the importance of teamwork and unity (Click here to view blog: insert blog link of “Why Teamwork and Collaboration is Important”). Teamwork and collaboration is vital for a team’s success. In this case, creative differences are needed to create something great. When roles and tasks are delegated properly, a team of professionals with different sets of skills will work together to finish the job. This is what unity looks like. If you are part of a team, you have to do your best to do your part for your team’s success. You have to be one with the team’s goal. And overall, you have to be united in one single vision.

United In One Single Vision

Thirdly, be united in one single vision. Vision is what keeps us focused. When a team has a clear vision of their goals, teamwork becomes effective. We must share the same vision as our teammates/workmates for us to be successful. Even if there is only one member of the team who doesn’t have a clear vision on what you are supposed to achieve, problems could arise. As a team, you need to make sure that everyone has a clear vision of your common goal. If you are able to do that, then there is unity. Your creative differences will then be manifested in the work you do, thus, giving you a chance and opportunity to do your part.
To summarize everything that was mentioned, there is unity in diversity. Jack Ma himself believed in this concept, making him and his company very successful. Never be afraid of differences. Because of differences, there is unity. And in unity, there is success. Take it from Jack Ma himself, the richest man in China whose company is now one the biggest in the world.
Intelligent people need a fool to lead them. When a team’s all a bunch of scientists, it is best to have a peasant lead the way. His way of thinking is different. It’s easier to win if you have people seeing things from different perspectives.
